FT MarketWatch

Spot

Describes a transaction for immediate delivery and payment, as opposed to a future date. The "spot price" is the current market price for buying or selling an asset right now — commonly referenced for currencies (spot forex rate) and commodities (spot price of oil or gold) — and is typically contrasted with the futures price for delivery at a later date.
