Definition 1 The Receipt of an Exercise notice by an Option writer that requires him/her to Sell the security in the case of a Call option, or to Buy the security in the case of a Put option, at the specified strike price. Here, also called exercise Assignment or Exercise notice. Definition 2 The Transfer of ownership of an Asset from one person to another.
